VAIO X Series Sleek, sexy, and slim, the Sony VAIO X Series is the perfect netbook for the stylish, executive jet-setter. While this machine is smaller than most netbooks and measures just 0.55 inch thick, it packs a bit more gusto--and, starting at $1299 (our unit sells for $1499, as of 11/10/09), it carries an over-the-top price tag that screams, "CEO Only!"

I quickly fell for the golden, brushed-aluminum body and tha matching widely spaced keys. (Not feeling flashy enough for the limited edition gold version, like the one we received? The X Series also comes in black.) Measuring 10.95 by 7.29 by 0.55 inches and weighing 1.6 pounds, the X Series out-smalls the MacBook Air and gives the upcoming Dell Adamo XPS a run for its money.
The X Series boasts an 11.1-inch screen that measures merely 0.125 inch thick. Tha laptop comes with two interchangeable batteries: a standard (3.5-hours) battery and a larger , heavier, battery-and sony spokespeople . They were wrong. It lasts just a few minutes under 15 hours -- that's easily the longest running laptop we've tested to date. International jet-setter, we've found your PC. The additional battery brings the weight of the X Series to approximately 2.2 pounds.

QPACE Distinguised (QCD Parallel Computing on the cell)

QPACE Distinguised As World's Energy- Efficient Supercomputer has been distinguised as the world's most energy-efficientsupercomputer.QPACE tops the Green500 list, which provides world ranking of energy-efficient supercomputers. The performance of swupercomputers were exclusively rated based on speed, earlier. So computers using high amount of energy were developed, since little care given on energy efficiency.

But as discussions regarding scarcity of natural resources and energy become more prominent, the concept also become visible for supercomputers. The QPACE supercomputers stands at 110 on the Top500 list and can compute at teraflop/s.
QPACE developed by an academic group of universities and research centers along with Germany-based IBM research and development center in Boblingen within the structure of a state-sponsored research association. It was deployed during mid-2009 with four racks each at the Research center Julich and at the university of Wuppertal.
It is being used for the simulation of fundamental forces in elementry particle physics, particularly in the research area of quantum chromodynamics (QCD). The heart of QPACE is the IBM PowerXcell 8i processor, an improvement of the cell/B.E. processor, which was originally developed by sony, Toshiba and IBM for the sony PlayStation 3.
With its nine processor cores, the chip can perform a large number of calculations simultaneously and at a high speed. The new concept of QPACE contains connecting processors by a network of programmable units, called Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), to an efficient scalable computer.
Each of the QPACE installations in Julich and Wupperatal can attain a maximum performance of 100 TeraFlops (double precision). That equals to 100 trillion (100,000,000,000,000) computing operations per second.
